"Don't you just love New York in the fall?" A favorite quote from a favorite movie: You've Got Mail. Of course, one could never replace New York for Houston for this quote, but since I'm far from New York, we will try. You don't really feel the transition into fall until the end of October, but I do love it. Holiday season décor begins to unveil, pumpkin everything makes its big debut, and it's finally socially acceptable to wear sweaters in Texas, even though I wear them all year long. I find it necessary to have several essential pieces in my wardrobe for this time of the year, transitional pieces if you will. I have narrowed it down to my favorite ones (mostly shoes) that you can wear with anything. Here it goes!
I really love this Who What Wear jacket that I purchased from Target. Although it's floral (yes, you can wear florals in the fall), it has hues which I find to be perfect for transitioning to fall, but doesn't have an overwhelming all over floral print.
I absolutely love a cozy sweater, and basically live in it all year round. It's not so much the color that is essential, but the sweater itself. I throw this on top of a dress, t-shirt, work out clothes, and literally everything. Perfect go-to.
If you know me, then you know that I am a shoe collector! All of these shoes have been great for the summer, and will be perfect for the fall. They can be paired with jeans, a little black dress, or anything at all to take your look to the next level. (Clockwise from top: Brown Laced up Block Heel Sandal from Shop Hearts; Olive Green Pointed Pumps from Urban OG; Blush High Ankle Booties from Love Street; Tan Chunky Heel Platforms from Charming Charlie.)
I need accessories to complete an outfit, and these pieces are my first choice. I love to stack rings by mix and matching textures, with metals, woods and beads. I have used these two scarves every fall for the past few years, and will continue to use them, as I cannot live without them. They're great to wear in the summer to add depth to any look, but perfect to wear with a light jacket as the temperature descends. Finally, I find myself constantly switching between a big and little purse, and these two have been very great for matching most of my outfits this summer. With all of my essentials, I can use either or to work with my looks! (Costume jewelry, scarves, and big brown bag: Charming Charlie; Small shoulder clutch: Urban Outfitters.)
